Shawn Jung, D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Shawn Jung grew up in Ann Arbor, MI, and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 2018. During
dental school, Dr. Jung founded the UIC chapter of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Peer Mentoring Group, serving as the Clinical Skills Director. He was
also selected for the Endodontic Enhanced Specialization Track and served as a teaching assistant in pre-clinical endodontics and restorative dentistry during his fourth year.
Dr. Jung earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UIC and his Master’s degree in Biomedical Science from Midwestern University. His research on post-
operative pain was published in the European Journal of Pharmacology. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Jung completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at OSF Saint Francis Hospital and practiced as a general dentist in Seattle for three years.
Dr. Jung received his Endodontic Specialty certificate and Master’s degree in Oral Science from UIC College of Dentistry’s Endodontic residency program. During his
residency, he served as Chief Resident, recognized for his excellence in clinical skills and leadership. In 2024, Dr. Jung was honored with the Resident Award at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Endodontists for his presentation on laser-activated irrigation.
Passionate about endodontics both as an educator and a lifelong learner, Dr. Jung currently teaches part-time at the UIC College of Dentistry Endodontic Department. He plans to become a Board-Certified Endodontist while continuing to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field.
